The Live for Music Tour Mission

Raising Support for High School and College Music and Arts Programs

The Live for Music Tour's primary mission is to raise support for high school and college music and arts programs, and to give students the incredible opportunity to be featured in a professional, televised concert.

We've concluded a 30-city 2010-11 run in cities like Chicago, Portland, and Washington D.C. Now, we're scheduling a 50-City high school tour for 2011-2012. We’re looking for schools with a well organized, established music program, with a certain level of talent among school choirs, bands, orchestras, dance teams and other performing arts areas.

Each concert will feature performers from a host college and a couple local high schools. We donate 25% of the proceeds to the host college, 25% to the high schools of the college's choice, and 50% to Live for Music.

Shaun Barrowes’ “Show Us You Live for Music Tour”

International singer-songwriter, Shaun Barrowes (American Idol, Season 7) teams up with hip-hop violinist Lindsey Stirling (America’s Got Talent) and percussionist, Brandon Cummings (nationally ranked jazz/blues drummer), to tour across North America and perform in large concert halls, featuring local talent in this incredible showcase of choirs, bands, orchestras and dance ensembles.

The purpose of this tour is to motivate high school students to excel, by giving them the chance to personally work with professional touring musicians, and to raise money and support for struggling music programs. Shaun Barrowes sees the need to keep these programs in our schools, and also loves working with the students to help them reach their full potential.

"Shaun went above and beyond the call of duty for us. He didn’t just come and perform, he was here for a full week before the program fostering good music and inspiring students to work hard to improve their skills in the arts." –Kathy Taylor, Principal of Pleasant Grove Junior High
"From an education standpoint, it was a great opportunity to have students working with professional stage crews and with Mr. Barrowes as they prepared for the concert. It was a win-win for our school." – Alan Ashton, Assistant Principal at Maple Mountain High School
"This really was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I have heard nothing but rave reviews from our administration, parents, my colleagues, and other students on how we were able to collaborate as music and dance departments to promote arts education. Shaun was engaging and personable with the kids and took the time to work with them individually and answer questions about pursuing a career in music. I think it was an event the students will remember for a very long time! Thanks, Shaun." –Mikale Clark, Choir teacher at Arundel High School
